Default AprilinParis Beatrice Amblard ’s handbags

Which woman never dreamed about designing her own bag? Until today it was just a dream! Beatrice Amblard will create your dream bag. “Bea” was hired by Hermès in Paris as an apprentice. After four years, Beatrice came to Los Angeles to study English for six months. Hermès then invited her to San Francisco as “Ambassador” to the new San Francisco store, which opened in 1987. Back then, she was only the second Hermès employee from Paris to come to the U.S. to work.

At Hermès, Beatrice worked on small leather goods and the famous “Kelly” bag for 14 years. In 2000, Beatrice opened her own boutique, April in Paris on Clement Street. “My signature style is classic and contemporary” says Beatrice Amblard. “What I design and create is everything I’ve learned, so my heart really goes into my work. Twenty years later I love it more than ever.”

Beatrice is the only Hermès leather artisan to open her own store in the U.S. She spends an average of 60 hours a week at her workstation filled with centuries-old tools making wallets, belts, briefcases and handbags, a signature accessory she’s best known for.

But Please let’s forget about Hermès.

Beatrice is a Master Artisan In Leather, the Scarlett or the Bea handbag are already a “must have” it’s very easy to see why Amblard’s work is in such high demand. Her ‘contemporary-classic’ designs are hand-finished with the traditional saddle stitch - the same exact way it was crafted 200 years ago. Marked with her signature logo of an 18-karat gold or sterling silver bee, every item is one-of-a-kind. Working with a few select French tanners, Amblard only uses fine skins for her products, including French calf, alligator, ostrich, and stingray. Dye lots can be requested, so one can order shocking pink alligator or persimmon ostrich skins. I can’t wait to go to San Francisco to visit her Store.
